Owow Home Keratin Hair Treatment Kit 2021 Review

Over the past year or so, many of us have had to find new ways to turn our homes into makeshift beauty salons (among other things), from taming unruly eyebrows to keeping our hair down. under control by taking the scissors – some attempts inevitably being more successful than others.

While it was a relief to many when hairdressers were finally allowed to open in England on April 12th, if you’re as disorganized as I am when it comes to your hair care, you haven’t had a chance to get a reservation. As such, it had been a year before I managed to get a haircut, and it’s safe to say my locks were in need of some serious TLC. Not to mention that my hair is naturally frizzy, very long and difficult to tame.

While waiting for my long-awaited date, I discovered Owow, a relatively new hair care brand that promises to instantly revive dull strands; tame frizz and deliver silky smooth hair that lasts up to three months.

Claiming to offer the same miracle results as a salon-worthy keratin treatment – a chemical process often performed by hairdressers that smoothes and adds shine to frizzy hair – but for a fraction of the price and without the bad guys (i.e. ‘is vegan, cruelty-free and sulfate-free), I was definitely skeptical.

Idea from Georgina Grudinschi, who understood the need for long-term solutions to tackle frizzy hair, Owow has amassed a cult following and has demonstrable results, with users sharing their before and after photos on Instagram. The more I paraded, the more I was intrigued.

Can a simple at-home hair treatment really be the answer I was looking for to turn my frizzy Hagrid hair into smooth, sleek locks? I tried the Owow Kit (£ 43.96, Owowbeauty.com) to find out.

At first glance I liked the Owow packaging, it arrived in a recyclable cardboard box and all the products (sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, and the smoothing treatment spray) can be recycled with your usual household waste.

The products are cruelty free and vegan, and unlike salon keratin treatments, do not contain formaldehyde. Rather, the formulas are packed with natural ingredients including cashews, guarana, and balsamic vinegar, all of which are high in vitamins and antioxidants and good for making your hair shine.

On the important bit, the application. Instructions were easy to follow, with a leaflet detailing the steps to say “goodbye to frizzy hair.” The whole process took about two hours, which may turn some people off, but we were determined to give it a go.

This was first to saturate the hair with the straightening treatment, which I expected to have a chemical scent, so I was pleasantly surprised by how it smelled. Due to the length and thickness of my hair, I used the whole 100ml bottle in one sitting, which may not be the case for those with shorter or longer hair. purposes.

Following the application, I had to let the treatment act for an hour (40 minutes for fine hair), allowing it to work its magic before rinsing it out thoroughly to make sure that there was no residue of product. After that, it was time to blow dry and straighten my locks. The latter took a considerable amount of time as you have to iron each 2 cm section six times to make sure the hair is straight.

But once that was done, all I had to do was admire the end result: soft, shiny hair that now feels completely transformed. Normally when I blow dry my hair it’s dry, frizzy, and somewhat unmanageable, but after using the Owow Home Straightening Treatment, it’s silky and smooth – and that’s what I’m here for. I’m now going to have to wash my hair with the brand’s sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and blow-dry after each wash to rekindle the effect, but that’s not really a problem for me – and there is shampoo. and 100ml conditioner included in the kit.

The verdict: the Owow home smoothing care kit

Having never done an at-home keratin-style treatment before, I was skeptical of how the Owow At-Home Smoothing Kit could transform my strands from their dry, frizzy state into something smooth and silky. But that’s exactly what it’s done. I’m impressed with how this makes my hair easier to comb and it means I don’t have to straighten it after every blow-dry, with only a few flyaways to tame. While the price of £ 45 seems high for a treatment you have to do yourself at home, if you regularly go to the salon for a similar thing it will save you money in the long run, and you definitely should. give the Owow-at-home smoothing kit to try.

All in all, the process took a long time – well over two hours – but, I guess that’s a small price to pay for a few months of smooth locks. Goodbye Hagrid hair!
